The golf day was held on the red course of The Berkshire on Thursday 11 October 2012 and 20 teams of four took part. It was a stableford, with varying scores to count. The day started off dry but it soon turned to heavy drizzle and the 15 teams who completed the course are to be congratulated.
The day began with breakfast in the snack bar, followed by a shotgun at 9.30am. Most people turned up on time despite the appalling traffic. The winners were Pennie & Anthony Lipscomb, Terry Jones and Vanessa Adams with 112 points. Second were Janie Cadbury, Ian Gill, Chris Osborne and Richard Opperman with 109 points just beating into third place on countback, also with 109 points, Michael Robinson who played with three of Myles’ friends, Nick Pritchard, Ollie Tunnicliffe and Harry Santa-Olalla. Nearest the pin was won by Debbie Bull for the Ladies and Chris Osborne for the Men. Nearest the line was won by Eva Lamaison for the Ladies and David Burgess for the Men.
There was a raffle, with tickets sold in the bar, followed by lunch. During lunch an auction was conducted, very successfully, by Nick Stewart.
The day raised in excess of £18,000 for the Myles Robinson Memorial Trust and the Robinson family are very grateful to all who took part. More schools will be built in underdeveloped countries as a result.
Many thanks must go to Mecco, who sponsored the wine at lunch, Savills, who sponsored the refreshment cart and 9 Impressions who produced the auction leaflet.
