The annual rugby match on New Year’s Day, in Myles’ memory, was won by the Irish, yet again! We don’t know what the English have to do but the Irish all know each other well so the English will just have to up their game…
The match was held at the bottom of the nursery slopes in the village (thank goodness it snowed or everything would have been green!) and everyone retired to the Figeller Bar nearby afterwards. Thanks must go to Kari Napflin who, as owner of the Figeller Bar, gave all the participants a beer afterwards and helped set out the pitch in advance of the match.
This year the President of the Wengen Rugby Club, Michael Robinson, decided to have some hats made with The Myles Trust on and they were sold at the match, raising over CHF 1,200, by the Gay twins, Catherine and Caroline. We are extremely grateful to all of the Gay family and Rachel Maskey for their help.
